You've been taught wrong about the right way to address them
Modern medicine, while amazing at emergency care, is woefully inadequate when it comes to complex chronic health issues. It seeks to diagnose diseases and treat symptoms – to suppress them.
What is wrong with this approach? The most important idea you need to grasp is: symptoms are caused by imbalances deeper down in the body.
The following graphic illustrates this:

Toxic overload, nutrient deficiencies, compromised gut health, hidden inflammation, and a myriad of other internal and external stressors will eventually lead to various symptoms – it all depends on your vulnerabilities and genetic predispositions as to how these will manifest.
For some, a compromised gut may lead to skin problems or headaches, for others it can lead to autoimmunity. Hormonal imbalances in some can contribute to sleep issues, while in others they may cause mood swings, depression, or weight gain.
We’ve been programmed to think that when we have a symptom (e.g. a headache) we must use something to suppress it (take a painkiller). While there is nothing inherently wrong with wanting and getting relief, the problem is that when you try to mask symptoms, they may go away for a while but in the meantime the underlying problem festers. It gets worse and new symptoms may appear.
It’s very likely you or your loved ones have experienced this vicious cycle – symptoms -> drugs to suppress them -> new symptoms -> more drugs -> more symptoms -> gradual degeneration in health and well-being. This is clearly not the path to vibrant health!
So what is the right way address our chronic complaints? Once you understand the functional paradigm, it will seem so logical and simple…
If you can figure out what the deeper metabolic imbalances are that contribute to the symptoms, and address them, you have a much higher chance of the symptoms improving, or even going away.
That’s the approach I teach my clients.
We use advanced functional lab tests to identify hidden contributors to dysfunction and poor health, then apply nutritional and lifestyle changes that bring the body closer to the balance it requires for optimal health.
