How I can help you

With my health consulting service, I will teach and support you to:

    • Identify imbalances in your body using advanced functional lab testing (e.g. gut dysbiosis, sex and adrenal hormones, nutrient and antioxidant insufficiencies, food sensitivities, etc.) and guide you in using natural means to bring your body back into balance. Please see some of the tests we can run under the Lab Testing menu on this website.
    • Reduce your toxic exposures.
    • Enhance your body’s innate detoxification system so you can better deal with the toxins from the air, water, food, products you use, and general living in the modern world.
    • Shed existing toxic burden (reducing the chance that some of it will make it to your baby).
    • Optimise your diet.
    • Improve your supplementation protocol.
    • Enhance other lifestyle factors such as sleep and stress reduction.
    • Ameliorate inflammation and other processes that cause damage in the body.

In 2023, I became certified as an accredited GrowBaby DNA test practitioner, which allows me to run the GrowBaby genetic test on moms-to-be, so that we can optimise diet, supplementation, and lifestyle factors based on their unique genetic make-up.

I learned a lot during this course and they shared many valuable research papers with us to deepen our knowledge.

Here are some important pieces of information I gleaned from the course:

    • Many of the toxins to which the mother is exposed are transferred to the fetus in one form or another during the pregnancy. (I already knew this, but it is worth stating nonetheless.)
    • The level of toxin exposure on the fetus is largely dependent on the effectiveness of the detoxification system of the mom.
    • Exposure to toxins shortly before, and during the perinatal time period increases oxidative damage in the mother. Oxidative damage means parts of the body (DNA, cells and their important components) are getting damaged. It also plays a central role in preeclampsia.
    • Maternal exposure to environmental and dietary factors during embryonic development is known to program the offspring for adult diseases through epigenetic modifications.

Furthermore, from my conversations with clients, acquaintances, friends, and family, and from what I see being talked about on the internet, it is quite evident that many women have sub-optimal nutrient status not only before getting pregnant, but also during the pregnancy itself and beyond. (Not to mention the extremely poor quality of many prenatal multi-vitamin supplements that most women take.)

This means that the pregnancy will take a tremendous toll on the body and explains to a great extent why so many women nowadays are suffering from chronic fatigue, brain fog, poor immune function, and general low quality of life and happiness levels for years after giving birth.

There is unfortunately a lot of misleading information out there, some of the most dangerous being that it is a good idea to be on a plant-based diet while pregnant. While it is possible to have a successful pregnancy and healthy child this way, it is FAR from optimal, for many reason I don’t have space to exound on here. I’ve worked with enough former vegans/vegetarians to see how detrimental these diet are long-term.

My goal is to teach you how to get as healthy as you can and stay that way using ancestral wisdom and modern advancements in a smart and strategic way.

The importance of reducing toxic exposures and supporting your detoxification system

Why is detoxing your body, cleaning up your diet and environment, and getting as healthy as possible so important BEFORE you get pregnant?

For starters, toxic metals and chemicals accumulate in bone, fat, organs and other parts of the body. If you don’t excrete as many of of these safely before you get pregnant, there is a high likelihood that some of these will exert a negative impact on the pregnancy. When coupled with continued toxic exposure from the diet and environment, these are far the optimal conditions needed for a fetus to grow and develop.

Studies have found the following (this is a very small sample of the research I have seen):

      • Prenatal pesticide (organophosphate) exposure was associated with poorer intellectual development in 7-year-old children (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21507776/).
      • Mercury is transferred through breast milk and “can induce oxidative stress in breast-fed infants and may play a role in the pathogenesis of many health problems, particularly during neurodevelopment” (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23661328/).
      • Prenatal mercury exposure was related to poorer performance on a school-age assessment of IQ (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25757069/).
      • Low-level prenatal methylmercury exposure was associated with adverse effects on childhood memory and learning, particularly visual memory (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25062363/).
      • Phthalates are found in personal care products (creams, shampoos, etc) and plastics. Maternal levels of phthalates and BPA (bisphenol A) have been associated with long-term hormonal imbalances in boys (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24945889/) (Please note that BPA-free plastics are not safe, animal research has shown that alternative bisphenols are likely just as harmful.)
      • Research suggest that prenatal BPA exposure may be associated with externalizing behaviors (e.g. aggression) in 2-year-old children, especially among girls (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20049216/). Once again, please do not think BPA-free plastics are safe – they still contain other bisphenols.
      • Prenatal exposure to bisphenol A was associated with increased odds of wheeze in early life (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22334053/). BPA was detected in 99% of maternal urine samples during pregnancy.
      • Exposure to bisphenol A is associated with recurrent miscarriage (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15947000/)
      • Prenatal flame retardant (PBDEs) exposure is associated negatively associated with reading skills, Full Scale IQ Test scores at 8 years of age (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27385187/). Flame retardants are used in plastics, certain types of clothing, car seats, furniture, carpets, children’s toys and a whole plethora of common household products.
      • Prenatal PDBE exposure has been associated with poorer attention and executive function in children. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26271888/). The same researchers also reported “associations for prenatal and childhood PBDE exposures with decrements in attention, processing speed, fine motor coordination, and cognition in children at ages 5 and 7 years.”

I share this with you not to scare you, but to make you aware of what a huge impact your health will have on your children, not just in their early years but for life.

Optimising your health means setting your lineage up for generation health.

This is the ultimate gift you can give to your children and grandchildren.

Not only will I teach you how to get healthy, I will teach you how protect your child from the countless dangers out there.
